AT NORTH FORK
SCHOOL FOR DOGS,
Long Island dog trainers Dawn Bennett and Asha Gallacher will show you how you and your dog can communicate through positive methods of reward dog training at their beautiful training site in Cutchogue, New York or in the comfort of your own home.
We use a common sense approach to dog obedience training by teaching owners to read their dog’s body language which will bridge the gap between human and dog communication. By using positive reinforcement techniques like praise and rewards, rather than harsh punishments, you will get the most cooperation from your dog through love and respect. We like to think of our techniques as using compassion, not compulsion.
*(Please note: fearful or aggressive dogs will not feel comfortable in group classes) We recommend private training designed for your dog's specific needs. For more information, visit our canine counseling page .
Got a new puppy or rescue dog and a bit overwhelmed? Let us help you by giving you a consultation to set you up for a successful relationship with your new friend.
At North Fork School for Dogs, we are extremely proud of our dedication in providing you and your dog with the most humane, up-to-date and effective dog training methods. We have had the honor of attending workshops with some of the top trainers from around the world, like: Ian Dunbar, Sue Sternberg, Nicole Wilde, Grisha Stewart, Suzanne Clothier, Pia Silvani, John Rogerson and Terry Ryan to name a few.
When looking for a dog trainer, we urge you to find one who is familiar with reward based training methods. For more information about this most popular type of training, please use this guide from the Association of Pet Dog Trainers to find the right trainer or behavior consultant.
